New NSW Gateway Policy in effect now

22 March 2017

Revised policy sets minimum requirements for risk based review frameworks and nominates agencies responsible for the design and administration of these frameworks.

The NSW Government has approved a revised NSW Gateway Policy (TPP17-01) effective immediately.

Treasury Circular TC 17-03 makes the policy applicable to all general government agencies and businesses. It applies to state owned corporations to the extent made applicable under the commercial policy framework.

The new NSW Gateway Policy sets minimum requirements for risk based review frameworks. It nominates the following Gateway Coordination Agencies (GCAs) to be responsible for the design and administration of these frameworks.

  • Infrastructure NSW (INSW) for capital investments
  • Department of Finance Services and Innovation (DFSI) for ICT investments
  • Treasury for major recurrent investments

Agencies should familiarise themselves with the Gateway Policy and the three Gateway assurance frameworks which will operate in conjunction with Treasury’s existing budget and project approval processes.
